I put up the Promotional Pancakes web site over the weekend and started adding some content (back story) to the site. I will finish adding new content to the site over the next 10 days and at the same time will start on a link building campaign.

Why? That is a question I have gotten a few times over the the weekend and my answer is simple, I want to build a web site for a service company ( in this case marketing) and get some ranking for it within Search. The 2nd reason is to use this site as an example of my view that, if you as a small business owner pay attention to your core business and chronicle that business on the web you will do well on the web, meaning you will garner traffic and calls to your business.

Of course this is only a piece of the marketing equation but it is one I think is really important. Too many small businesses waste their time and money trying to redesign the way they do things in order to fit into the web. I’m a big believer that chronicling your business on the web creates unique content that in turn will drive traffic.

Seth Godin’s three U’s, Useful, Unique and Updated fits into almost every business who wants new customers. The three U’s is a simple plan of content chronicling that every business would be wise to follow and a path that I am a zealous adherent to.

Do What You Do, and then chronicle it on the web using text and media, you will create value within your niche.

Promotional Pancakes made out of web images and served up on an entirely new domain whose only purpose is to get the search engines (Google) to think we know what we are talking about and are therefore entitled to lots of Google love. Now suppose we hire an ad agency to created a marvelous and chic campaign letting everyone know when it comes to Promotional Pancakes there is no one who does it better or with more passion then the dedicated employees of Promotional Pancakes.

Promotional Pancakes starts working at 3:00 AM every morning 7 days a week come rain or come shine. Nine bleary-eyed employees at the Boston franchise roll into the shop to start preparing everything for the morning rush. From 8:00 AM when they arrive at the first business to serve up hot pancakes, waffles and blintzs with every topping you can think of, this group of hard working young people will cook and serve hundreds of employees from a handful of businesses.

Promotional Pancakes is a new breed of marketing agency, one that brings the message directly to the customer in a lavish morning breakfast. A client will hire Promotional Pancakes to wow both established and potential customers with a gruella marketing breakfast. While the pancakes are being served the client will shake hands and chat with owners and employees, all this renenforces the bond between businesses and brings the human touch to that relationship.

Something that I write about often is how everything is local, it’s not just politics as Tip O’Neil would say but all relationships are local in one way or another. Promotional Pancakes takes this idea to the logical end when they bring smiles to your customers and in doing so create loyality.

The main reason I created Promotional Pancakes is to show small business an example of staying with doing what you do best (your business) and utilizing marketing to chroncile what it is you do onto the web, most businesses do not need to change the way they do business to fit the web, no they need to let what they do change the web. Just Do What You Do is the slogan of this campaign and over the next couple of weeks I will be drawing it out in more detail as I put together the Promotional Pancakes web site. I hope you will join in my excitetment.
